چکیده
Abstract Background Lung cancer is highly prevalent in Chinese population. The association of operative approach with economic burden these patients remains unknown. Objectives This institution-level cohort study aimed to compare the cost-related clinical outcomes and health care costs among undergoing video-assisted thoracoscopic surgery (VATS) open lobectomy, investigate factors associated costs. Methods retrospective included who underwent VATS or lobectomy a provincial referral center China 2018. Propensity score matching (PSM) method was applied balance baseline characteristics group. Clinical effectiveness measures post-operative blood transfusion, lung infection, length stay (LOS). Hospitalization were extracted from hospital information system assess burden. Multivariable generalized linear model (GLM) gamma probability distribution log-link used analyze total Results After PSM, 376 selected analytic sample. Compared group, group had lower transfusion rate (2.13% vs. 3.19%, P = 0.75), infection (21.28% 39.89%, < 0.001) shorter LOS (9.4 ± 3.22 days 10.86 4.69 days, 0.001). Total hospitalization similar: Renminbi (RMB) 84398.03 13616.13, RMB 81,964.92 16748.11, respectively (P 0.12). non-surgery significantly than group: 41948.40 7747.54 45752.36 10346.42 approach, longer stay, insurance coverage, diagnosis higher 0.05). Conclusions has rate, lobectomy. Future studies are needed other aspects societal perspective.

Video-Assisted Thoracoscopic Surgery (VATS)
Video-assisted thoracic surgery is finding an ever-increasing role in the diagnosis and treatment of a wide range of thoracic disorders that previously required sternotomy or open thoracotomy. The potential advantages of video-assisted thoracic surgery include less postoperative pain, fewer operative complications, shortened hospital stay and reduced costs. The following review examines the sur...

Video-assisted thoracoscopic surgery (VATS) for resectable lung cancer patients has been frequently used in the past decades. The potential beneficial advantages and safety of VATS has been shown in large patient series and meta-analyses. The strategy of limiting access to one incision in one intercostal space (uniportal VATS) has been adopted by some thoracic surgeons in recent years. We have ...
متن کاملVideo-assisted Thoracoscopic surgery (VATS) lobectomy for lung cancer does not induce a procoagulant state
Background Changes in the coagulation system in patients undergoing surgery for lung cancer have been sparsely investigated and the impact of the surgical trauma on the coagulation system is largely unknown in these patients. An increased knowledge could potentially improve the thromboprophylaxis regimes. The aim of this study was to assess the coagulation profile evoked in patients undergoing ...

BACKGROUND Video-assisted thoracic surgery (VATS) lobectomy provides a minimally invasive alternative for management of early stage non-small cell lung cancer, but is still only performed in a few specialized centers around the world. Questions about the safety of the surgery and its adequacy as a cancer operation remain hurdles for many surgeons. METHODS We performed a systematic review of t...
متن کاملVideo-assisted thoracoscopic surgery (VATS) pleurodesis for pneumothorax.
Spontaneous pneumothorax is a common condition that impacts significantly on healthcare expenditure. Its optimal management, however, remains a subject of considerable controversy. The proven safety and efficacy of minimal access video-assisted thoracic surgery (VATS) has changed the way we manage this condition. We present VATS pleurodesis utilizing the endoscopic stapling technique for the ma...
